




Our Mission
The mission of the Athletic Injury Management Foundation is to educate, equip, and empower student athletes, coaches, parents, schools, youth leagues, and communities with the knowledge, resources, and support needed to prevent, recognize, and properly respond to athletic injuries. AIM also exposes students to careers in athletic training and sports medicine while helping schools and sports programs strengthen athlete safety, emergency preparedness, and overall wellness.
Our Vision
Vision AIM envisions a future where every student athlete has access to safe athletic environments, informed adults, proper injury response, and meaningful pathways into sports medicine and athletic training careers.
Our Core Focus Areas
1. Athlete Safety & Injury Prevention
Helping schools, coaches, and youth sports programs improve injury awareness, prevention, and response.
2. Sports Medicine Career Exposure
Introducing middle and high school students to athletic training, sports medicine, and related healthcare careers.
3. School & Youth Sports Support
Supporting schools and sports organizations with education, resources, equipment awareness, and safer athletic environments.
4. Community Health & Wellness
Providing health education opportunities such as CPR/First Aid, Disease screenings, nutrition education, and community wellness awareness.
Our Programs
1. AIM Sports Medicine Symposium
A student-centered learning experience designed to introduce middle and high school students to athletic training, sports medicine, injury prevention, emergency response, and healthcare career pathways.
Possible components: • Sports medicine career panels • Athletic trainer demonstrations • Injury prevention education • Emergency response basics • Student Q&A • College and career pathway information
2. AIM School & Youth Sports Safety Workshops
Training and education for coaches, athletic directors, school staff, youth leagues, and parents
Possible topics: • Recognizing common athletic injuries • Heat illness awareness • Concussion awareness • Emergency action planning • Proper sideline response • Return-to-play considerations • Communication between coaches, parents, athletes, and medical professionals
3. AIM Student Career Pathway Program
A structured exposure opportunity for students interested in athletic training, sports medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, exercise science, nursing, or other health-related careers.
Possible components: • Campus visits • Facility tours • Observation hours • Mentorship • Career readiness conversations • Academic preparation guidance
4. AIM Community Health Awareness Events
Community-centered events that connect athlete safety with broader health education.
Possible offerings:• CPR/First Aid education • Blood drives • Diabetes screenings • Sickle Cell awareness/screenings • Nutrition education • HIV/AIDS awareness • Whole-family wellness education

The Athletic Injury Management team includes experienced professionals who are dedicated to advancing the athletic training profession and providing important resources to support its growth. The Foundation will sponsor symposiums to increase awareness about the Sports Medicine Profession and all the services it provides. These symposiums will be directed towards students seeking careers in sports medicine, as well as school officials looking to improve the medical care for their student athletes.

About Us
AIM’s Founder and, Executive Director, Duane Brooks, brings over 3 decades of experience in his field. He’s currently employed with Ochsner Sports Medicine Institute where he has been for the past 5 years in addition to being a member of the Ed Block Courage Foundation's Podcast team. From 2021-2025 Brooks served as an Industrial Sports Medicine Professional with Briotix Health. 2023 was spent with the USFL as the Head ATC/Director of Sports Medicine with the Houston Gamblers, 2018 as an assistant ATC with the Baltimore Ravens after completing 4 seasons as the Head Athletic Trainer of the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans. Prior to joining the Pelicans Brooks spent 12 seasons as an Assistant Athletic Trainer with the New Orleans Saints where he joined the club in 2002 after spending eight seasons as a member of Florida State University’s athletic training staff. His contributions since have helped the Saints athletic training staff earn several awards, including the 2007 Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association (SEATA) Professional Athletic Training Staff of the year and both the Professional Football Athletic Training Society Staff of the Year, and Fain Cain Memorial Award in 2005. Duane is a Tampa native and a graduate of FAMU and FSU. He has completed summer internships with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1992, 1993 and 1996.
